Hebrews 9:23-28

The sacrifice of Christ is the once-for-all obliteration of sin in both heaven and earth. Sin, at it's core, is the exaltation of self-will over God's will. Jesus, by His obedient self-sacrifice, killed sin at its source. For the Christian, Christ's victory over sin becomes our victory as we surrender our "self" to Jesus.
